Live it, luv it, Shang Hai

Cowabanga, IM BACK!!

Gosh, it has been ages since i last posted any updates here, have i really been that busy? Indeed i have....and it's gonna take days to relate everything that's happened...

First and foremost...Shang Hai...

If i ever had sounded prejudice toward the nation of China, my sarcastic remarks for the people and my ignorant knowledge of the land, i pray to God that it will be forgiven, coz Shang Hai is truly one awesome place, KL has a long way to go if comparison were to be made...

Albeit im pretty sure one good reason im liking SH is the weather factor, but there's more than meet the eyes, or rather, the sensation on our bodies...

Without a doubt, SH is definitely a vibrant and colourful city, there is so much to see and experience, I wouldn’t mention about the food though, for some reason or other, my view toward Chinese food still remains pretty much the same, not appealing, appetizing at all. Anyhow, talking about food, we have tasted some nice and also awful food while we were there. On the first night, our Chinese guide cum friend cum lil’ brother, by the name of Sean, he has brought us to this ‘hot pot’ or ‘hua guo’ restaurant near our motel. The hot pot resembles our version of steamboat and we have ordered the ‘ma lat’ soup which literally means ‘Hot till it numbs’. What we had that night was basically and solely mutton, thinly sliced and rolled up, arranged in a pyramid shape. The meat was so good, so fragrant and so tender that we ordered a second and a third round. Oh yeah, another highlight is the cheap beer that we had, it only cost RMB 1, or equivalently 50 cents our money, can you believe it? If memory serves me correctly, we had like 15 bottles altogether to be shared only among the guys, that would be seven of us. Sean appeared invincible when he effortlessly whacked down the first few bottles, but later on appeared tipsy like the others….I was the champ…J.. It was hilarious seeing FZ(fei zai) and KT ballooning red, they avoided the beer ever since…haha…

The trip was a real blessing, and it has been FUN throughout. Anyone who commented that China is for old folks must be out of his mind, well, not SH anyway. We have been blessed with two young local and national guides, by a mere age of 22. Irene was our national guide, her obligation was to ‘shepherd’ us from KL to Singapore to ShangHai, and then Sean, on the other hand, would be our guide in China. Both our guides have been awesome, I must say I enjoy their company very much and I can confirm that the trip wont be much as fun without them, they are a real sport! The friendship that all of us built up from the first day were apparent, almost inseparable, and due to that, haha, I say we were more privileged then the other members in the group, since we have extra outings at night, not scheduled in the itinerary and also more information of the country.

The tour group consisted of 34 of us, which can be separated into three major team, the first majority team is the Christian team ( in which I later happily found out that we came from the same church), the second team is the Mok’s family, and last but not least, the nine of us would make up the students team AKA the Noisy lots…Hmm hold on, there were another married couple, Brian and Kelly, which happen to be Denise’s neighbours…and Irene’s parents as well…along with another dude, who would follow us incessantly wherever we go, and we were kinda okay with it, since he had got no friends…I speculated that he had a crush with Daryl, since that dude was always tagging along behind him, somehow or rather, even to the loo! LOL….Daryl was not happy with the speculation, chillout pal, jz another lame joke of mine…But I could be right, u know…:p

In some way, I am adamant that God has put this whole team together, gosh, how excited I was when I found out that the Christian group actually attend GT church…at the same time, I was a little taken back, thinking that there shouldn’t be anymore nonsense from me, since I am bound to meet them again in church…so I have to constantly reminding my members to keep it down and scale down the craps that we are so accustomed to have…without any qualms we were definitely the most noisy group in the entire team…I am not sure if we did manage to cheer up the spirit with our constant laughter, chit chats and Hanging-halfway-in-the-air songs during the bus ride, but I just knew that we never stopped producing noise throughout…All of us had occupied the back seat in the coach, forming a gap with the rest of the group, so as not to disturb them as much, but that effort is futile of course…

For me, it meant especially a lot with this specific arrangement simply due to the fact that my non-Christian friends were being exposed to the gospel through the other members. They were being told of testimony and life changing experience and of Christ, in which I have almost given up hope in telling after all these years of inviting them to CF, or to special events in Church, or just merely my testimony. They are not anti-Christ, but at the same time they would not accept Him as their personal savior…

The fact that I traveled to China with my close friends also made the trip very memorable, maybe it’s not so much about the place, albeit I cant deny that SH is really a breathtaking and fantastic place, but ultimately, it is more to the company, we all appreciated the moment we spent together and valued it, and have made an oath during the toast we had in every single meal that we will always stay in touch after the trip…

It will be neverending to describe the entire trip here, but I will try to note down the essential particulars, or maybe upload some pictures in the future, so that I can always keep this memory alive through this blog, to be reminisced and rejoice when im enjoying solitude in a sleepless night….I really love these ppl, they have been there since freshman year, going on to sophomore year, and then we were closest during junior and senior years…SH is our first trip abroad together, and we promised each other that it will not be the last…

Our Journey began on a blissful morning couple of days after the last paper (for some of us), and everyone was in cloud nine…We, as usual, were quick to assign nicknames to other folks….and of coz, to ourselves too…haha…over the years, I dunno under whose influence, there are these accumulation of abbreviation, most often a sarcastic kinda nickname rather than a kidding one…For instance, we have XZB (xia zhong ben), SGB ( sai gai pui), TDZHT (we named it to a guy after his endless effort in approaching denise with the lamest excuse or starting a lame small talk with her), MP (mang peng), TBY( tong poh yook), to name just a few…of coz, our gals have named themselves something more glamourous, like Zena, Omega, ABT…Apart from that, our guides have their Chinese nick name, courtesy of me…I thought it was pretty appropriate considering we were traveling in China…Ke li si ding na (Christina) served as our host in Wu Xi, Zuo Zhi (George) in Hang Zhou, Hai Lun (Helen) in Su Zhou, Jie Ke (Jack) in Nan Jing, last but not least, Siao Yu (little fish) in Shang Hai…

It was while we were gathering to check in that we decided that the rest of the members in the tour group should be categorized as LB(lou beng), despite there are younger members as well, like 24(er shi si sui)…haha…then as days went by, we have Tik Tik, Karatai Lee, Serious ( pronounced Sir-Rai-Yus), among others…We took on a great flight by SIA with excellent food, I had like five baileys on our trip from Singapore to SH, and was kinda pissed when I cant consume any during the journey back as Auntie Florence was seating beside me…We arrived in SH feeling on top of the world coz the weather was heavenly…I had often complained to my gang back in cyber that we were living in Hell, and I guess they finally agree with me upon breathing the cool, breezy SH air…We had the opportunity to ride on the fastest train on earth, the Maglite…it is basically a german technology Magnet train that made use of the electromagnetic theory, I shall spare you the operating details, though I am very familiar with it after seeing it on Discovery Chanel…J …the magnificent train achieved a maximum speed of 431 km/h and we could really feel the speed, it was AWESOME….!!

Our trip brought us from SH to Wu Xi to Su Zhou to Hang Zhou to Nan Jing and back to SH…personally, I enjoyed SH and HZ the best, and I must say the weather factor contributes to my judgment…I am sure I would enjoy Malaysia as much if the temperature is below 20 with chilling wind blowing constantly, instead of the still, mushy, contaminated air we have here…The traffic in SH is as bad as in KL, but then who cares? The buildings are magnificent, the multi-tiered highways are impressive, the people there have pink, rosy cheek…but I still dun like their loud-voice, spitting, and ill-hygiene attitude…I s’pose the nation’s development is way ahead of their mentality…

Sean, on the contrary, had not demonstrated the typical chinaman attitude, he can converse English relatively well, and quite sporting too, though we weren’t happy with his constant FFKing us…but then again, he was merely a guide of ours, he has no obligation over the promises he made anyway…Irene, a very sporting gal, has brought us to the discotechque while we were in HangZhou, and we got to experience the nightclubs there, with a vibrator in the middle of the dance floor…I couldn’t believe it when all our gals joined her on the dancing table, shaking their hips frantically with the dance bit, and portraying seducing movement…ALL HELL GONE LOOSE that night….well, we really have to thank our Choreographer, FZ, for coming out with all that creative dance movement, something the mixture of tik tik, check it out, and stupid snake gesture copied from their favourite film, Kung Fu Hustle…we drank moderately, merely two dozens of beer, and then headed to the hotel, to return the next day to the same location, but this time we voted for the lake instead…We had supper in this elegant Italian restaurant in which the folks pestered me into singing alongside the singers there…and guess what, the song was Titanic…how really embarrassing….after that, we laid down by the serene lake, whereby someone had drowned only the day b4…the atmosphere was eerie, with chilly wind and dim street light…but we enjoyed it very much….yeah, we are freaks…

So what is memorable of this China trip? I would say the Shopping! Though I didn’t do any hardcore shopping there, but the stuffs are really cheap! Well, that is if you’ve got hold of the art of bargaining…the gals did very well, calling a first offer for a 70% decrement from the initial starting price, and they managed to pull it through all the time…another one among us who did equally well is, surprisingly, a male who was never enthusiast with shopping, Fei Zai…Gosh, that dude has been spending like an open tap since the first day…let me see, he bought a stamp, few drawings, lotsa books, VCDs, over-priced tea cup…and goodness know what…for myself, I bought some cheap souvenirs, some imitation products (out of my norm) which includes Rip Curl T-shirt and CK briefs, a potentially fake Fei Chui (Jade), so-called ‘real’ pearls, and some not-so-tasty sweets…It was inevitable that the trip consisted of far too much factory visiting for comfort…we were brought to the Zi Sha Pot factory, silk factory, Long Jing Tea plantation, chrysanthemum tea, pearl, Jade, etc…

Among all, I miss the spring weather the most, the temperature was just nice, luke warm, if you will…chilly with some warmth from the sun, absolutely gorgeous…I wouldn’t love the place as much if it were Summer, for our information, it should be warmer that what we are having here, less humid, possibly…The weather in Shang Hai reminded me of Sydney, but they are two different cities altogether, although I would like to say my preference would skew toward Sydney, predictably typical of my nature, but to be honest, I wouldn’t mind staying in SH at all, I think…if only the shanghainese lass would be a little bit gentler and adorable…we have seen too many dun-mess-with-me girls in SH, trust me, they would lay a hand on you if things dun go too well to their liking…Hun Dan (bastard) would be fired against you, and dun even think of fighting back, we all know too well how Chinese opera got its name from…ultra high frequency shrieking-alike voice…you will never come close to their pitch…best solution, get a step back and SHADDAP…

I would like to go on forever about this awesome city, the many river cruises, the pearl tower, the temples (im still a Christian), the buildings, the scenery…but I will not get enough of it, ever…one thing for sure, this wont be my last trip to China…Shang Hai, you haven’t seen the last of me, we’ll bound to meet again, I s’pose 2008’s Olympic in Bei Jing wont be too far to look forward to….

All's well that ends well....

It's final....it's over...

and that pretty well sums it all up, the final destination of my varsity years has been concluded yesterday in a 2h paper...

I was thrilled for a while....everyone was...We shouted at the top of our voices, we danced, we embraced each other...we agreed with one another: This is it, we've done it, all these years of suffering is finally coming to an end, it HAS ended...

and then i decided: SO WHAT???

thinking back, i was telling everyone how i dreaded each and every day when we were in campus, sitting in a single file, listening to neverending lectures by dunno-who and struggling to see to the assignments at the 11th hour...

We went through the junior years, the sophomore year and then the senior years...

it wasnt without fun, it wasnt without happiness, it wasnt without craziness...then why do i wanted out of that game?

i dunno...i must be confused...i didnt know what to expect...i thought something bright ahead is waiting for me...i was naive, i still am...

Gosh, i miss the folks already...

yesternight the dudes chillouted at my crib for one last bachelor's night...we hit the Bombay Sapphire Gin...we were very happy...we expressed ourselves...everything was out, the grudges, the unsatisfaction with each other and then finally we forgave each other and our relationship is one step closer now...

Shall be leaving for Shang Hai in a few hours more....i havent packed...was feeling a lil' dizzy and nauseous....and head-splitting migraine...but i really look forward to this trip, to hanging out with my close Uni frens one last time, to tease each other time, to have fun....Geez, jz fyi, no one is dying and the world aint coming to an end, at least not any time sooner...(i hope... coz ppl are actually telling me that the end of days is coming, from the volcano eruptions, apparently...dun be childish, ppl...)

so about my buddies, i havent realized how much i appreciated them until now...they were the one who informed me of any assignments submission a day prior to deadline, they were the one who let me copied their works and reports and results, they were the one who reminded me if there's any jobs interview going on in campus, they were the reason why i still survive in the varsity...

It is now officially ended...I AM now a graduate...i am now declared qualified to enter the helluva working world...i dun hafta study anymore...Im not exactly sure if my finals have been done impressively, but im sure i'll be able to pass everything...(*fingers crossed*)...im tasting the sweetness now, i hope it will last...

Many times in our lives we were worried about the uncertainties that lie before us, we questioned and we wanted answers....but more often than not the excitement actually lies in the process of getting the answers...we wanted a fast-way out, we didnt get it, we frustrate...that's not the right attitude...I have come to know that in order to achieve something, u need to put effort in it...i feel that i have done it, and now let's see what's gonna happen to me...

Lead me on, Lord...indeed, You are the Way, the Truth and the Life...

Study Week...

Pretty much happened for the past few days...some satisfying ones, some sobering ones, and others thrilling...

First off, THE PRESENTATION was done and over with...I dunno why i feel so excited about this one, considering i have no recollection that ive done a swell of a job...but anyway, i was rather pleased that the lecturer and moderator have decided that they will keep their questions to themselves...that suits me...:)

Then, it was Easter Sunday...I had a nice Easter service on Sunday morning, remembering that He had suffered for us and His love and what i can do to appreciate Him...As i was singing Above All on stage, I cud really feel it...it was very intense...Thank You, Lord...for everything...

After that, i spent the next few days with CF members...On monday, we had dance practice, and then we went to South City for supper...it was during that time that much was happening back in the condo im staying...Apparently an 'EarthQuake' has taken place while we were eating...Funny as it shd sound, i didnt feel even the slightest budge, and all this while i was thinking, the very thing that Malaysian do best - Exaggeration...To cut things short, i went back to Cyberia...saw the fellas and dudes making themselves a total nuisance hindering access to the condo, taking the opportunity to fellowship with each other, thus creating a chaotic mess and unneeded commotion...it irritates me when ppl make a HooHaa out of something petite...I joined in the 'talking' for a while, and then i headed back to my room, leaving the folks where they were...i later heard that they were down there for another couple of hours or so...pathetic...

Tuesday was the farewell day for FYS...we final year student presented a dance and a sketch for the juniors...I wasnt feeling very emotional, as ive nv really know the juniors...It was sad though to not seeing the other graduating students...but then again, lives move on...

On wednesday, i had another 'makan' session with the CFers...we went for Haagen Dazs Buffet and i ended up being the winner, or the Greedy Hog, for consuming 16 scoops of ice creams, accommpanied by three cups of coffee...I love the IceCream but was really disappointed that they didnt serve Bailey's flavour...otherwise i would have achieved my target of 20 scoops....nvm, will do it next time...

Some updates on myself...

I added four more books to my bookshelf:

Cat and Mouse - James Patterson
1st to die - James Patterson
Rule of Four -
The Line of Beauty - Alan

Also, i got an iPod Shuffle which is out of the norm for me, coz im nv into gadgets like this....but i thought i cud bring my music along when im travelling in ShangHai and Cambodia next month...so it is worth it...

Alright, let the study week commence...the last sprint to the finishing line...

I do well, i do well not, i do well, i do well not, i do well...

Hehe...

Friday night fever...

Last weekend, I celebrated galfriend Melissa’s birthday. We checked out this club ‘Rum Jungle’ that has been in town for a while but have never gotten the nerve to enter it. We were there one day, outside its compound, but the music turned us down, it was very sixties then, and the live band didn’t manage to convince us that they will rock it out…

So on this faithful night, we decided we would give it a try and venture into it…We bought a Bacardi Limon that is less alcoholic than a Bombay Sapphire, so that the gals can share the drink with us….

The crowd was there, the live band was there, and everyone was in a chit-chatty mood…the night was still young when we visited the place and we were seated in a very cozy Gazebo where we have the whole place to ourselves…we drank slowly, and let the conversations take over…The occasion was a merry one, we toasted for Mel and Jo for their starting a new job, and wished them a blissful career…I was the only one who has yet to work in the crowd…and I do feel a lil’ outta place…well, maybe jz a lil’…

Looking around me, the crowd consists of mostly working group, business cows and middle-class sheep…there were barely any youngsters around, or rather none…I can see that some of them are having their company drinkout after working hour…Mel’s company has such treat too, every last Friday of the month, the company entitles the staff a happyhour extravaganza of three complementary drinks in the club…She promised to bring me and Jo the next Friday so that we can all get the first round on the house…

The live band was boring, singing tunes from the good old times that sounded jolly and at the same time melancholy…the best that we can dance along was ABBA’s Dancing Queen…We felt better when the DJ took over and played us techno and other fantastic remix…

I was thinking, how nice it is to work in town and have this kinda happyhour every night after work, good companies, nice drinks, business talks, and friendly pow-wow… Of coz, it takes some handsome salary to be able to sip a few rounds of Martinis and Margaritas…but actually I was hoping im charming enough to get the superiors to buy me my drinks….before I can become a superior myself, and buy the adorable juniors their drink…life’s a cycle, ain’t it?

We finished our drink and adjourned to Thai Club, which is jz across the street…bought a Chivas Regal and joined in the frenzy party up in the second floor…The mood was better, young people like us were everywhere, and we can relate better to the music they played...

We stayed till 3 in the wee hours, only because Dad wants me to be back…I earlier mistaken him as someone else and have talked crap in fronta him, and end up he thought I was drunk…but I really dun feel like relating the story now…it was embarrassing….really…

Jo drove me back, we passed few road blocks, gotten over it, reached home, slept till noon, dehydrated…

And there goes our Friday nightout…

Some nice company, and a few drinks...

This is it, the very day ive been waiting for...after what seemed like a grueling two weeks, sleep deprived, food scarcity, entering into a torture-chamber-cleverly-disguised-as-office-lecturer's room once a week, and still survive, i shall hereby declare that as of today, im a free and victorious man...

no longer succumbing to his pressure
no longer slaving for the report
no longer shying away from my LIFE

Yeah, today is the day, the legendary day, the day that all FYS (final year student) have been craving for, the day when hell breaks lose and insanity takes over....

It is the thesis submission day...(or rather, it WAS...wahahaha...)

Im feeling in heaven
Im feeling blissful
Im feeling to get a few drinks

I finished my report yesterevening, and what a fine time i had then...another item off the check list, two more to go....Presentation and Final exams...Gosh, it's so near i can taste it...Im glad im not feeling the pressure of not securing a job, like the others did...didnt feel inclined of getting any either...Mom was asking me yesterday if i had any plans...i said i dunno, but one thing im sure is, i wanna get outta this place! She was like: Go for it! Geez, that was exactly the kinda support i need from her...

So this morning, i went to the bank and sort out all my finances...i feel that i really need to manage my own expenses now....A month from now i MIGHT NOT take any more allowance from my parents...It's time to be independent, it's time to provide, it's time to stop taking...

I changed my FD mature period to one month, i took out all my interests, i planned bout its usage (Isetan is having sales now...LOL), and i thought bout the expenses of going to overseas...

Wow, all of a sudden i feel as if im in control, of course, im praying that God will make a way for me and be a faithful provider...i really need His intervention in this, where my life is concerned...

Coming back, i was feeling in cloud nine yesterday, my fellow pals and i went to a nice, newly opened bar at the Curve...It was tequila night, and guess what, i was challenged by the DJ on a shot of tequila...i won and got a complimentary tequila..haha...

My first round was Blue Margarita, the taste is cool, a decent quencher...
For my second, i took Mexican Martini....luv it...
For my third round, i had Sex-on-the Beach, a fave cocktail of mine...coz i absolutely adore the pineapple juice in the concoction...
Final round, the complimentary tequila i mentioned earlier...

Needless to say, life was good after a few good drinks...and the best part is, i only paid for the first round...My galfriends didnt do as well as i do, they drank juices, heinekan and ILT...Gals...

Ooh...im going to have some more drinks later...bye...

Typically Malaysian....

I thought as im a frequent movie-goer, i should comment a lil' on the attitude that some fellow malaysians have to offer while they're inside the cinema...

So the other day i was getting my weekly dose for my movie crave, i bought tickets for my friends and I, hoping to catch a nice film to start off the week...I insisted that we were to watch Lemony Snickets: A series of unfortunate events, since it has become a hit in the states...

we got ourselves seated, comfy and all, on some of the best seats in the hall, i was thinking: gosh, we are so gonna have a fine, entertained time...Alas, i cudnt be more wrong...

It all started when the film began...

"this is not a story about the elf...", says the narrator...

"Mom, why arent we watching the elves?", says the boy...

"dear, we're watching a story about the poor children...", says the mom...

And for the next hour or so, this is what we got from our beloved spectators, who happen to seat just RIGHT BEHIND us...

i will not even start telling you how unfortunate i am when it comes to having decent neighbours in the cinema, coz ive barely gotten any!

if they're not chowing down some weird smelling food, they're talking nineteen to the dozen, if they're not smooching and getting all over each other in front of me, their legs are wobbling behind me...I shall reserve my two cents worth about ppl with BO and stinking legs and oversized arms that would tend to intrude my 'territory'...Sigh, i feel that my comfort zone has been compromised everytime i try to watch a film...

It continued...

'mom, why is he babbling?', the kid would say...

'He's saying....this....that....bla...bla...more bla...', the mom would explain...

Alrite, i know this is a nickelodeon film, but does that mean we should have an inquisitive child with loud, tearing, piercing voice all over us, and a loving mother who's having the impression that she's telling a bedtime story to her child?

Im not being unkind here, but i cudnt hear a word that Jim Carrey has to say...Well, maybe i do, coz the mother would be repeating the lines after him...My knowledge of the entire film now lies at the mercy of the mom's narration...how lucky i am...

We all know how Jim Carrey has the tendency to speak fast-paced, altered tone and funky pronunciation...so when the mom cudnt get he said, she would just make up stories of her own...

Sometimes it just beats me how unconsiderate some ppl can be...i mean, Hey, someone else is watching the film too...Hello~~~

but that's always been the case...yeah, and only and exclusively in Malaysia...this is the kind of ppl that u will meet everyday in your life....

She has tried...when her child broke into uproarious laughter...

'Son, dun be too loud...', she said...

'wahahaha....', that brat took not the least notice of what his mom said...

'this is not the end, the baudelaire orphans will continue to face more unfortunate events in days to come, but they will always find a way to turn things around, let's just hope that it stays that way...' the narrator concluded...

And there goes another of my UNFORTUNATE day...

'Dun say i didnt warn you'.....

Chap Goh Mei...

Everyone was looking forward to it, and for some reason or other, i thought the entire affair of having 15 days of celebration is totally absurd...Well, the malays celebrated for two days during Raya, while the indians only have one day...Christians, every day is a day to be celebrated and cheer upon, since we've already gotten the joy in us, we definitely dun need special occasion to get all spirited up...

So, after the last paper on Tue, everyone was frantically excited (although i did a bad midterm...)...We gathered and proceeded to Bistro 1957, our favourite hangouts at Mont'Kiara...the occasion was to celebrate Chloe's birthday, or rather, her lunar Birthday, which happen to fall on the last day of CNY...

We dined, we drank and chit-chatted...taking time off from our busy schedule, putting away thoughts of thesis and FYP, and had a very memorable rendezvous...I ordered my fave Fettucine Carbonara and Tom Collins while the others contributed their Pizzas and Pasta and Chicken fillet as my side dishes...

it was a hearty meal, we were satisfied with it...when it comes to eating the birthday cake, everyone has room for it, as denise had smartly bought a miniature one...after the meal, we adjourned to Breakers for beers and Fusball and Pool...I challenged the guys for pool where loser pays for the game...lost few rounds and won one round...haha...obviously luck wasnt on my side...

The getaway was necessary, and most of us were amenable at the suggestion of hanging out, despite heavy workload...I know the workload concerns less of me than to the rest, so i thought they were pretty sporting and willing to spend hours out playing and having fun...

Somehow, i dun understand why they still feel pretty stressout over the project and exams....didnt they all already have a job secure for them? some are going to Sony, some to Motorola, some to Pentamaster, Tekmark, Finistar....Alrite, they are perfectionist, they want the best out of everything...First class honours is a must in their cert...well, definitely not me...

I went for Melissa's convocation last week at Nikko Hotel...she graduated from Victoria University, Melbourne...the entire ceremony was grand, with students and faculty master and chancellor alike, all wearing their robe up to perfection...the valedictorian was a bit of a disappointment though...she couldn't speak fluently! What particularly hits me is that everyone's cert is SIMILAR....no one cares if you've gotten a Distinction or Merit or Credit or Whatshit, the cert reads a mere Graduated from Victoria U, in what course, what year....bla bla bla...

Gosh, that's what i would like to see in our digital cert...but i know it's not gonna happen...Malaysians take such great pride in their own achievement that they dwell in it forever....look at every household, and u r bound to encounter what would be an oversized graduation photo, golden-framed certificate at a spotlighted location...slim chance that you will miss seeing it...

It aint matter to me...it doesnt last....it's not forever...

Right now im jz gonna concentrate on SURVIVING till the end of finals, which would be around mid april...I'm feeling fragile...on the verge of giving up...dun feel like seeing anything that relates to engineering anymore....I need to stay put, focus...i know i can do it...i didnt come that far to give up...Never...

There it goes....

Have been thinking of blogging after the 1st few days of CNY...basically it was/is a CNY not unlike the other years...

This year the family reunion dinner was called off at the eleventh hour as my uncle in Singapore cudnt get the day off (he's a surgeon)...So, our own family, upon coming down from Genting, we went to Crowne Plaza Hotel (previously known as Mutiara) to have our reunion dinner...

The buffet spread was delightful, fusion of east and west, when i mentioned east, i only meant Japanese...:)

at 65++ per pax, i thought it was rather reasonable, as they offer quality food like oyster, salmon, steaks et al.

On 1st day, we have gone back to hometown (bahao) for the family gathering (father's side)...things are pretty much the same, ppl say the same thing, they ask the same question, they do the same stuff, they eat the same food...

the plus side: they remembered my birthday! hehe....i was kinda astonished when a birthday cake appeared from nowhere and then ppl started singing birthday songs...i then asked my cousin who's birthday it was...she was like:i have no idea...at the end of the entire affair, they said it was for me, and i nv realized they remember my lunar birthday....geez...thanks alot ppl...

im most certain my parents havent told them bout it, coz they werent even there when it happened and they were pretty much ignorant of what has taken place...

This year, mom has been generous in our ang pao...a four figure, i suppose she's implying that i should be giving her ang pao next year, since she kept bragging that my elder bro has given her ang pao of AUD3000...sigh....watever...

the entire week has been a fruitful one, was out whole day until the night became ebony...hangout, clubbing and the norms...we sang, we lou sang, we played, we drank, we danced till the night wears out...

still few more days to go before it is over, im hoping to spend more quality time with my parents despite midterms and assignments still going on...they deserve it...

...

Im losing grip of my life...

Totally messed up...

Gosh, when can i pull myself together?

Lord, share my burden, will ya?

Off for a week long break...

I deserve it, i earn it, i desire for it, i appreciate it and by all means, BRING IT ON!!

The feeling is jz right...i was kinda upset this morning that i have to wake up early to attend a laboratary session in school...but we did it! we were the last group to commence on the assignment, but we Rock! we outshine the rest, we became the first group to complete the task, with fabulous results too! Gosh how i miss the admiring eyes when i leave the lab...they were awe-struck, dumb-founded, they couldnt believe it...haha....serve them right for being so cocky...humility is the key here...ooops, look who's talking....? LOL...

Anyway, the midterm break is on, and i can see that everyone is in a jubilant mood...they might as well be, since a helluva time would be waiting for 'em when they return...submission of Thesis, presentation...Geez, i dun even wanna talk about it, let alone thinking of it...

FOCUS, this is the time, the much needed break, let's jz get the party started, shouldnt we? Happy Holidays, folks...

I cudnt care less, can i?

Well, some of 'em are really persistent, they cant leave me alone, they cant MTOB, they hafta mock me, they hafta make me feel as if im freakin' pathetic...but the hell with 'em...

I wont say im particularly upset having to spend valentine without that special someone, i wont perspire having to hook up with someone for that matter, i wont drink myself away in a lonely bachelors' bar and i definitely wont end up watching Valentine's special on TV...( sometimes i think the programs are meant for the miserable, despair, solitude soul...)

Truth is, i always have someone with me on Valentine, shopping, courting, fine dining, drinking...and i always receive gifts (choc, EDT, wine, accesories and stuff..), even when i dun give any...it boggles my mind how some ppl would consider this day a special day, it is as if they only get all lovey-dovey on that one day of the year...I still always think Feb 14th is a conspiracy by Hallmark, elaborating the day so that they can sell more cards and flowers and gifts and whatnot...and others alike would be on to it as well, double/triple charging the consumers for food, services and craps...

And as if romance isnt a two person thing, the couples would be out joining the entire congregation of Valentine-wannabe, crowding into restaurants, parks, beaches and other public rendezvous...How many could actually afford a getaway to Santorini and be indulged in a scented couples' suite, having a masseur knitting you like a dough and sipping cocktails on a personal verandah...privacy ensured...

Im not saying all this to make myself better, but indeed, everyday is a valentine if you are really in love...

Not in a relationship for some time, and not even thinking of getting involve in one...I figured since im so adamant of leaving this deemed dismaying place, i might as well wait till i start my new life somewhere else to find a soul mate...no point breaking vulnerable hearts, aye?

In a closely related issue, my buddies are trying to find me a date for graduation prom despite the fact that im on a whatever attitude...yeah, im the only one single in the bunch and i know they do feel sorry for me...but HEY, IM FINE...so stop making a scene out of nothing...and for goodness sake, stop bothering me...

On the contrary, ive been having a fling with someone that i deem able to have really scintilating conversation with me...gosh, this flirting business is really getting on to me, hopefully it can veer to something else...:p

Happy Chinese New Year, folks...

It's getting hot in here, please take off all my clothes...

It is cruel, it is merciless, it is anything but pleasant...

Sometimes i find it hard to feel jubilant in this place...It's jz too freakin' hot!

Yeah, pls bear with me, this is one of those days when the heat got under my skin...

Why bother building nice sidewalks, why bother building nice bridges (where im staying), why bother having man-made ponds or lakes or gardens or esplanade?

It jz doesnt make sense at all...Who on earth would think of hitting the streets under such scorching sun? Alrite, you would argue that shades and shelters are there, but trust me, it is the heat wave that you feel, making every sane being to go berserk...

I look forward to coastal weather, breezy and fresh... i dream of riding bicycles and greating ppl on the street...i fantasize embracing the sun in promising chilly wind....

But now, im bounded to the air-cond room...cant go anywhere...cant be free...cant be myself...

Dream on, Marc...

Fly away...

23 years of age…I was thinking, all these years, no matter how little achievements ive accomplished, it must still account to something, right? In the very least im one of a kind, I have my own ideas, own thoughts, own principles and own sense of dignity…Ppl might come across me as someone who is cheerful and easy-going, the truth is, those who really know me are aware that I dun do things to please others, whatmore changing myself to suit others…Never…

Lately I have a tendency to miss home a lot, there will be a sudden urge to see my parents while im away in CyberJaya…or I would be thinking of my brothers, how Jacky is doing in Australia, or how Jason is coping with his teenage problems…I wasn’t used to be someone who is family-oriented, I kept things to myself rather than share ‘em with mom or dad…My reasons being that they cant help me with my issues, and I wouldn’t in the whole wide world want ‘em to worry bout my affairs…sounds noble huh?

Earlier I was looking at the newspaper, this advertisement regarding Migrations to Australia caught my attention, I relate vehemently to Kew and Ejia that we should attend this consultation, but they weren’t in the least interested…Oh, my obsession of leaving this country is getting the best of me, it’s making me lose focus of everything, even my midterms and my projects…there wasn’t a time when my mind aint thinking of all the things that I would do while im out there…ice-skating, skiing, snowball fighting in the winter…lying down on the lush meadows, surrounded by fragrant flowers in the spring, leaving for cooler countries in the summer (im really not a sun-worshipper), and enjoy falling leaves and melancholy mood during the autumn…

Perhaps that explain why I desire for my family love so much, I can almost feel it, that I will be gone sooner than I expect…that I will miss ‘em so much, not able to talk to ‘em, see ‘em and let ‘em take care of me…but I know I must be strong, ive gotta be independent, we cant rely on our parents forever, you’ve still gonna hafta move on and find ur own way…that is inevitable…

It hurts thinking that mom will be so lonely without me, or the other way round…I wont be able to savour her cooking, to tell her if the food was alrite, to compliment on her pasta or chawan mushi and to listen to her neverending lectures…this is utterly unimaginable…

Im confused, the fact is that I might not like what im looking forward to, but ive gotta experience it, living alone…I will make friends all over again, ppl will accept me and life will be happily ever after…(inspired by fairy tales..)

Mom, dad, Jacky and Jason, no matter where I’ll be or what would become of me, I’ll always luv u guys, till the very end of the world…

Yeappie....

This morning i woke up early to see to few errands - they are: Wash my car (after my parents' endless complains), deposit my cheque, and set up appointment with Susan...Updating my to-do list, i should have:

1)Dye my hair
2)Find out more on vision correction (parents didnt seem to like the idea unless given more info bout it..)
3)Meet up with ex-classmates
4)Go to TopShop
5)Send my comforter to the doby
6)Get parking bay sticker
7)Check out on Aussie Univ.
8)Buy weights at Fitness Concept
9)Work out
10)Write my thesis
11)study for midterm
12)start reading my new books by Mitch Albom
13)Get a lover...(LOL)

Alrite, it's official, im 23, couple of years more to 25 (my ideal age of getting married..haha)...and there goes my burfday this year, no confetti, no sports car for present, didnt propose to anyone, and neither did any gals propose to me (i fantasize on burfday-marriage-proposal, to save up one celebration..)...

Looking on the bright side, many celebrated for me, toasted for me, and kept me company...I have reserved yesterday for my family, and we went up to Genting (yes, AGAIN...) to celebrate...History repeated itself, slots, seafood, fine dining, wine, cakes...I would particularly like to relate on the Fine Dining part at The Olive...

As the name implies, it is an italian restaurant, fusion with western cuisine...upon entering in, we were offered this wine list, dad didnt want to drink as he would be driving back, but i think the price of the wine was the factor...anyway, we didnt drink wine, but went straight to soups, mains and desserts...

I had this wild mushroom soup, absolutely pungent in flavour, thick and creamy, ate with dinner rolls, smeared with extra virgin olive oil and vinegar...a total winner...then I voted for Spring Chicken with seafood as my main (the steaks are kinda costly)....it was tasty, alongside Scallops (i had alot of 'em for lunch), tiger prawns, asparagus, mussels all arranged delicately in the middle of a large fine China...

One thing i like about fine dining is that everything comes in such small portions, and you will definitely have room for desserts...The ambience was breathtaking, olive coloured interiors decorated with ornaments inside spotless and immaculately polished glasses...i cud seat there all day...

For desserts, i tried mascarpone mousse with ice cream crackers...Delicious, the mousse was smoothly done, wrapped with strawberry pealings and sugar sticks, and everything blended so well with coffee...

The Olive, Genting Highlands - Ratings: 9.5/10

At night, we have red wine (a gift from my friend) - Chateau Pavie (699) and then my parents wished me a year of success, along with sense of maturity...:p
they want me to give 'em a good treat next year on my burfday...Of coz i will, i said...:)

With birthday over, the next thing to look forward to shd b none other than CNY...i wouldnt particularly get all excited where CNY is concerned, it'd b jz another ordinary day for me...the anticipation is there as i would be seeing my friends and relatives again in gatherings, and the best part is that folks started giving you money in fancy red packets for absolutely no reason at all...lovely...

Midterms are around the corner as well, i wonder if im gonna do anything bout it...we'll see....

Food and Movie review....Pt Trois

Come to think of it, it isnt even my burfday yet, but how many cakes have i eaten till now? the count is 4 (four celebration)...

Yesterday church members kinda threw me a bash at a coffee shop, candles were blown, cakes were eaten, and wishes was revealed...Thanks alot guys, really appreciate it...

After that, ive gone to 1-U trying to catch a couple of movies with R...the first movie was National Treasure...

Hmm, though someone might comment it is an Indiana-Jones-Lookalike, but i found it quite entertaining...from producer Jerry Bruckheimer (also producer of TAR and CSI:Miami), you can expect the entire show to be thrillingly interesting, the actions just come one after another...with cool ideas and lovable casts of Nicholas Cage and Diane Kruger, i would say it is a must-watch movie, if u r the kind who r into adventures and stuff...The truth is, the plot resembles the storyline of 'Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown, from the code deciphering process to the church's secret chamber to the villain pursuit, everything matches uncannily...

Another movie was a chick flick, the fact that i adore Renee Zellweger has made me to choose it over Elektra (starring Jennifer Garner) and Vanity Fair(starring Reese Witherspoon)...It wasnt such a bad film either, this sequel to Bridget Jones' Diary 1 as written by helen fielding sees more of BJ getting all screwed up in her romance life...Alongside her love interest, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, they managed to create a sitback kinda comedy...I love this film particularly is becoz i feel that BJ can really relate to me...her obsession and desperation of romance, her not-getting-someone-she-likes, and her way of writing it all down in her diary, jz like what im doing now...haha...except i mention less of my romance life here...maybe i shd write more of it in the future...:)

Upon watching the 1st movie, we have gone to this cafe name Basque Lane...it features mediterranean food and located near Dome...Alrite, this is worthy of mention becoz the location is really secluded, you will nv come across it unless you venture out to the rain forest section, jz like we did...There werent any other patrons when we went in, and after we've finished our food and left...The place is really inconspicuous!

About the food, yeah, they were great! Strongly recommended to anyone who adores pasta and bruschetta and deserts...We had Escargot for appetizer, it was scrumptious, though i wouldnt say it is as nice as the one @ The Ship, but really, different taste altogether...the muchroom bruschetta was fine too...For mains, i had Alfredo Seafood, Luv it, despite the serving came deprived of more sauce, im still luving it...memorable taste, i would say...the carbonara, on the other hand, creamy enough for my liking, strongly advised on taking that as well...

For deserts, i had Tiramisu again, and R took Crepe Suzzette...my cake tasted heavenly, but the crepe didnt appeal to me, too orangey...For drinks, i had Spanish Sangria, a concoction of Red Wine, Lemonade and fruit...Yummy...:)

I would definitely go there again, and will recommend it to everyone, coz they really need more customers to survive, more promotions maybe...yeah, their food aint too pricey, definitely MUST TRY!!

she'll be running round the mountain when she comes....:)

Geez, absolutely, I mean, Really, last week has been a total blast, it was a helluva weekend, and a long one too! First off, following the smashing partying craze in down town Beach Club, on Thursday, I went up to Genting with my best friends, Jo, Mel and her beau, SS…

It was a short journey from my place (approx 1h), and we reached the peak in no time at all…The trip was kinda impromptu plan, they raised the idea on Mon, and we got the hotel room confirmed on Mon itself, to talk bout efficiency….haha….The room issue kinda bug us a lil’, they did ask if I cud cancel it upon reservation when we sorta realized we wont be occupying the room a whole lot, but it cudnt be done….As it turned out, we were in the room for a mere four hours, max (cat’s nap, bathing and grooming)…but as it was my treat, I didn’t really mind, though they were telling me how I cud use the hotel room money to buy ‘em a good dinner…how thoughtful of ‘em…

I guess being the burfday boi does mean something, the whole time I was up there I didn’t hafta pay for anything (apart from the room and H2O tickets)…Mel and beau brought some RM7k for their expenses, or rather, to play in the casino…Totally nutz if u ask me, having all that cash with ‘em, but since they were casual with it, who was I to concern?

We had Indian cuisine (We all luv it after our first attempt at Bombay Express like six years back, n we still talk bout our first time there…)…the Food was above average, but the tandoori chicken didn’t get on with us well, I like particularly the mutton masala, the spices blended perfectly with the meat, and it was appetizing…the price came at 180 which I would say kinda pricey, as we only ordered four dishes, excluding the Naan…

After dinner, we went to look for my lil’ brother at 1st world and all of us, with exception to mel (she’s a wuss) got to play archery for free…following some 60 arrows shooting vehemently like Legolas-wannabe, we adjourned to the Pavillion for H2O…alrite, if any of u haven’t seen it, DUN BOTHER GOING…the truth is, this would be the worst ‘magic’ show I’ve ever seen…(I nv missed a single magic show in Genting since I have my senses..)…The dancers weren’t impressive, neither were their costumes, let alone their sequences and steps…the magicians were lame too, showing us tricks like sawing off human body and lifting her up in the air or disappearing inside the box, ive seen that far too many times to be exuberant bout it…A plus point would be the acrobats, coz they did an incredible performance, i.e. zero errors occurred…Half the time you would be watching the ‘H2O’ part, yeah, musical fountain basically, that was the most boring part too…’surprisingly’…

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out where we went next….Haha….Casino…Im gonna make it clear, im not a fervent gambler, and nv will be…so while we were there, I hafta keep myself bz n entertained by playing the slots, or one-arm bandit, we like to call it…at the end of the day, I lost a mere 80 as compared to SS who donated 2k to the management…I still think he shouldn’t have played Baccarat, but should try Pontoon instead, I really love that game…again, I didn’t gamble….(cant afford losing, tbh)…Jo managed to win a lil’ through slots and roulette and had to treat us for a nice meal at ‘Chuen Kei”…haha, dat’s the price to pay for winning…

By the way, ive had the opportunity to try on the new ride - flying coaster...it wasnt so much of a thriller ride, if u ask me...No, u dun feel as if u're a superman as portrayed by the poster, not with the bars and grills surrounding u...but all the same, i can still feel the adrenaline rushing through me amid the fall and abrubt swerve and somersault...Ratings:mild in my scale ( not that ive tried any other extreme rides b4)...I'll still be on my search for THE REAL DEAL...see if i dun...

We celebrated the next day at Coffee Bean over breakfast, as I was adamant in challenging the slots again, we didn’t get to drink the wine I brought up…In fact, we didn’t have any DRINKS at all! That’s so not like us, I guess the obsession with the casino was at full force, coz we didn’t even go to the discotechque as planned…

The trip served well in pulling us together tighter, I was thinking, we wont be able to spend quality time like this anymore when I go abroad, thus im really gonna treasure the time we’re having now…but one thing im sure of, nothing’s gonna pull us apart, for now, and never will be…

Doubts..

Yeah, was checking out Leo's blog for a while, and his ramblings jz shedded some light on me...

He seemed distant...faraway...unreachable...

After CF dat night, Ps.Dexter's message was completely forgotten, until now...

Looking forward to building that relationship with Him again, and learning to trust Him, but not men...Help me to pull it through, Lord...

I know You are faithful, i just do...

Beach club...

Gosh, there are some dozen of days to go before february and my pocket money are almost gone...yesterday i was doing my own financial management and discovered that these are the causes...

1) Just bought a whole year supply of contact lens - 500
2) Jo's burfday gift, an esprit watch - 399 ( to be shared with mel)
3) Booking of room tmr night at Genting Hotel - 300+ (super-peak, eve of holidays)
4) Bought four tickets to H2O - 200
5) Clubbing @ beach club - 90
6) ShangHai fund - 200
7) Mission fund - 200
8) Tithes - 100

As i was thoroughly considering the expenses, it occurred to me that item no.2 and 3 can be waived (dad's paying it, it's my burfday anyway...) and that the major contributor is the stupid lens...It's about time to invest on a cool eye-wear instead, i thought...or better still, permanent eye-correction laser treatment at RM2k, hmm...can think about it, i wonder if it's gonna hurt?

Yesterevening i went to dine with Chris @ Alamanda before CF, and i later bought a hair-dye....LOL...this would be my 1st time dying my hair MYSELF (trying to save cost, as a colour service in a salon would cost you 180+)...

Normally i would averse to the idea of damaging my hair with chemicals, and it has been a whole year since i last high-lighted my hair @ Chezz (rey's recommendation), but i thought, hey, why not give L'Oreal a chance? i really needed some colour to spice up my life a lil', and to welcome CNY 2005....lately ive been a lil' blue, to be honest, and some changes would do me lotsa good...

So i chose this colour, not vibrant, not flamboyant, it is actually copper with inclination to Mahogany kinda brown...Think Tom Cruise, think Orlando Bloom, that kinda brunette colour...I always prefer brown to blond, they say blonde are stupid...

As of now, i have yet to try out my experiment, probably later this weekend, when the coast is clear....hehe...

Yesternight my pals and i went clubbing in town...we got to Zouk, closed...dismayed, we went to Velvet Underground, not a single soul to be seen...As crowds are much needed to get the party going on, we adjourned to the party street where most happenings are bound to gather...

Arriving there, tons of party-goer can be seen, and we thought: So this is where the people are...We've got few clubs to choose from, Twelve SI, Espanda, Nouvo, Thai Club, Beach Club, to mention jz a few...in the end we voted for BC...

Basically the band do rock inside there, but the ppl aint really participating in it, the crowds are there, but most of them immobilized, and i wonder what on earth are they doing there if they refuse to shake it up...

After few pacs of JD, we got somewhat high and couldnt care less of other patrons...we didnt actually have a lot of liquor (1 bottle of JD shared between the five of us...), so we ordered two more jug of beer...As for the gals, if memory serves me correctly, they ordered some kind of juice or something....lass...

We have fun there till 3, then they said it's time to go, i was like:hey, the spirit jz started to get high, and u guys wanna leave? but they wouldnt succumb to it, so we left after two more songs...

the aftermath: Badly dehydrated this morning, sore throat...but no Hangover, hurray...

Looking forward to drinking with the guys again, i think KT still have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin with him, bring it on, dude!
