Last weekend, I celebrated galfriend Melissa’s birthday. We checked out this club ‘Rum Jungle’ that has been in town for a while but have never gotten the nerve to enter it. We were there one day, outside its compound, but the music turned us down, it was very sixties then, and the live band didn’t manage to convince us that they will rock it out…
So on this faithful night, we decided we would give it a try and venture into it…We bought a Bacardi Limon that is less alcoholic than a Bombay Sapphire, so that the gals can share the drink with us….
The crowd was there, the live band was there, and everyone was in a chit-chatty mood…the night was still young when we visited the place and we were seated in a very cozy Gazebo where we have the whole place to ourselves…we drank slowly, and let the conversations take over…The occasion was a merry one, we toasted for Mel and Jo for their starting a new job, and wished them a blissful career…I was the only one who has yet to work in the crowd…and I do feel a lil’ outta place…well, maybe jz a lil’…
Looking around me, the crowd consists of mostly working group, business cows and middle-class sheep…there were barely any youngsters around, or rather none…I can see that some of them are having their company drinkout after working hour…Mel’s company has such treat too, every last Friday of the month, the company entitles the staff a happyhour extravaganza of three complementary drinks in the club…She promised to bring me and Jo the next Friday so that we can all get the first round on the house…
The live band was boring, singing tunes from the good old times that sounded jolly and at the same time melancholy…the best that we can dance along was ABBA’s Dancing Queen…We felt better when the DJ took over and played us techno and other fantastic remix…
I was thinking, how nice it is to work in town and have this kinda happyhour every night after work, good companies, nice drinks, business talks, and friendly pow-wow… Of coz, it takes some handsome salary to be able to sip a few rounds of Martinis and Margaritas…but actually I was hoping im charming enough to get the superiors to buy me my drinks….before I can become a superior myself, and buy the adorable juniors their drink…life’s a cycle, ain’t it?
We finished our drink and adjourned to Thai Club, which is jz across the street…bought a Chivas Regal and joined in the frenzy party up in the second floor…The mood was better, young people like us were everywhere, and we can relate better to the music they played...
We stayed till 3 in the wee hours, only because Dad wants me to be back…I earlier mistaken him as someone else and have talked crap in fronta him, and end up he thought I was drunk…but I really dun feel like relating the story now…it was embarrassing….really…
Jo drove me back, we passed few road blocks, gotten over it, reached home, slept till noon, dehydrated…
And there goes our Friday nightout…
