I thought as im a frequent movie-goer, i should comment a lil' on the attitude that some fellow malaysians have to offer while they're inside the cinema...
So the other day i was getting my weekly dose for my movie crave, i bought tickets for my friends and I, hoping to catch a nice film to start off the week...I insisted that we were to watch Lemony Snickets: A series of unfortunate events, since it has become a hit in the states...
we got ourselves seated, comfy and all, on some of the best seats in the hall, i was thinking: gosh, we are so gonna have a fine, entertained time...Alas, i cudnt be more wrong...
It all started when the film began...
"this is not a story about the elf...", says the narrator...
"Mom, why arent we watching the elves?", says the boy...
"dear, we're watching a story about the poor children...", says the mom...
And for the next hour or so, this is what we got from our beloved spectators, who happen to seat just RIGHT BEHIND us...
i will not even start telling you how unfortunate i am when it comes to having decent neighbours in the cinema, coz ive barely gotten any!
if they're not chowing down some weird smelling food, they're talking nineteen to the dozen, if they're not smooching and getting all over each other in front of me, their legs are wobbling behind me...I shall reserve my two cents worth about ppl with BO and stinking legs and oversized arms that would tend to intrude my 'territory'...Sigh, i feel that my comfort zone has been compromised everytime i try to watch a film...
It continued...
'mom, why is he babbling?', the kid would say...
'He's saying....this....that....bla...bla...more bla...', the mom would explain...
Alrite, i know this is a nickelodeon film, but does that mean we should have an inquisitive child with loud, tearing, piercing voice all over us, and a loving mother who's having the impression that she's telling a bedtime story to her child?
Im not being unkind here, but i cudnt hear a word that Jim Carrey has to say...Well, maybe i do, coz the mother would be repeating the lines after him...My knowledge of the entire film now lies at the mercy of the mom's narration...how lucky i am...
We all know how Jim Carrey has the tendency to speak fast-paced, altered tone and funky pronunciation...so when the mom cudnt get he said, she would just make up stories of her own...
Sometimes it just beats me how unconsiderate some ppl can be...i mean, Hey, someone else is watching the film too...Hello~~~
but that's always been the case...yeah, and only and exclusively in Malaysia...this is the kind of ppl that u will meet everyday in your life....
She has tried...when her child broke into uproarious laughter...
'Son, dun be too loud...', she said...
'wahahaha....', that brat took not the least notice of what his mom said...
'this is not the end, the baudelaire orphans will continue to face more unfortunate events in days to come, but they will always find a way to turn things around, let's just hope that it stays that way...' the narrator concluded...
And there goes another of my UNFORTUNATE day...
'Dun say i didnt warn you'.....
